According to 'Cricinfo', after the investigation by the Disciplinary Committee of the Afghan Cricket Board, it was decided to suspend Alam from domestic and international cricket for one year.
Alam was sent back home in the middle of the World Cup. An official statement said that it was done in such 'extraordinary circumstances'. However, later it was found that the team decided to send them back due to poor behavior in Southampton's team hotel with a female guest.
The 26-year-old Alam played his last match for Afghanistan on June 22 in which his team suffered 11 runs against India. Due to not being present at the ICC Anti Corruption Unit meeting on June 23, the chief coach Phil Simmons suspended Alam for two matches. Alam took three wickets in the World Cup.
